For Malaika
in celebration of over one month of life
Here is a picture
just in case
the journey is too long.
Tomorrow the quilt will
travel to Minneapolis
to be received before
a road trip to Milwaukee
then boarding a flight across the ocean
to a wedding in France
and finally hopping over to Stockholm
where this quilt will
find Malaika.
May it carry love and blessings--
Godspeed

Oh my, this quilt has done more travelling than I have.
Hi Emily, this is Lynn Herink from Seattle. The quilt you have made for Malaika is so beautiful!!! I found your blog via Kristy's and have so enjoyed reading it. Your style is so unique and engaging. There is great power in your words!
What a beautiful and colorful quilt! But I want to know more! Who is this special baby, Malaika who will be wrapped in the security, warmth and comfort of this precious gift you have made and lovingly sent on such a long journey?
A beautiful quilt for a beautiful baby - what a long way you have come since your very first quilt, which i still have!!!

To finish the story, this beautiful quilt safely arrived to our home in Stockholm and Malaika is peacefully sleeping on top of it as I write! She is a lucky girl to have such a quilt- particularly one steeped in such love and good music. Thank you, Tusen tack, Mil Gracias Aunt Emily!!
Lots of love,
Anastasia, Martin and Malaika
