Going to Camp
On Monday
I'll get on the bus
with my class
to spend the week
in the woods.
All last week they chanted
wecan'twaitwecan'twait
while I start my packing today
with less enthusiasm
wishing I could add some
patience and a soaring spirit
in with my extra pair
of socks.
They will love their week
and I will try to love it
with them.

Sounds fun. I'll trade you a week at my desk editing fund-raising copy for a week in the woods.
Have a great time!
How awesome! Okay, I will not be a teacher or a chaperone during this trip but it does look like it'll be fun for the kiddies. They are soooo lucky! Wish I could be kayaking in the beautiful blue water, too!
Good luck, although you must be insane to do something like this!
Oh have fun! I'm sure you will - love the photo! It says it all really :)
how fun!
of course...i know it was hard. i have some fading memory of being at the beach with 14 kids for a week...lol
so i apologize for my "i'll trade placed with you" text message.
you are a saint. and you know the kids loved it.
welcome home, girl.
Is the narrator writing this as an adult teacher or as a child?
That's how I might have felt as a child. I was such an outcast at camp.
having gone on just a two day camp with my son's 6th grade class a few years ago, i can appreciate how exhausting and demanding this kind of outing can be. hope it went better than expected and you have some wonderful stories to share on your return.
